Friday Morning Music: Songs for Snowy Days

Every Friday morning we kick off your weekend with a series of videos, loosely gathered around a theme. This week, we celebrate some songs that fit the weather. Enjoy our tribute to ‘snow’. And don’t worry, Informer won’t make it anywhere near this list.

It snowed here. Lots. Enough to shut the schools and drive me back under the blankets, and more is on the way this weekend. Weather is all relative, and this isn’t a lot in an absolute sense, but subjectively, DC isn’t equipped for this kind of thing. So while it’s pretty, and cozy in a delightfully frigid way, I’ll enjoy it from inside, thank you very much.

Jesse Winchester – Snow Winchester fled to Canada to avoid the Vietnam draft, and became a Canadian in the early ’70’s. So yeah, he knows about snow.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – 15 Feet of Pure White Snow

Albert Collins – Snowed In Perfect rocking bluesy jazz, if you’re snowed in with that special someone.

Rush – By-Tor and the Snowdog Fun fact, Phil Raintree has a fantasy ice hockey team named after this song. The preeminent libertarian rockers do it again.
