FMM: Garfunkle & Oates

Every Friday morning, we kick off your day with a series of videos, loosely gathered around a theme. This week, we remember Jermaine and Bret, and look forward to Kate and Riki. It’s music and comedy, two great tastes that taste great together!

The late, lamented Flight of the Conchords gave out laughs like Pez. It was the greatest novelty-music-based sitcom of all time, but now HBO is trying to recreate the magic. They’ve signed music/comedy duo Garfunkel & Oates to a development deal. Via WarmingGlow:

I think this could work, as long as they do two things: (1) No rapping. And (2) an overly enthusiastic stalker fan. Is there a male version of Kristen Schaal? I vote for Eugene Mirman or John Hodgman. Or Jim Gaffigan. Or Patton Oswalt. Man, there are a lot of creepy-looking male comics out there.

Ladies: You’re Welcome.

Garfunkel & Oates is Kate Micucci and Riki Lyndhome (rawr), and they’re pretty funny. This could be decent, although I hope they don’t mimic FotC too closely; it’d be a shame to needlessly invoke the comparison. See more after the jump.

I also loved at the staggeringly NSFW “I Don’t Understand Job“, so check that out. There’s lot more at their website. And as a bonus, enjoy my favorite FotC song.
