Friday Morning Music: A-Wassailing We Go!

Every Friday we kick off your morning with a series of videos loosely gathered around a theme. This week, we go wassailing! That’s caroling to you, Jack.

It’s that time of year. Christmas is all around us. Some Christmas carols are saccharine, some are just ugly marketing. Some particularly enjoy the incredible crassness of the moment when we try to squeeze an extra syllable into the fourth line.

But there are some moving, meaningful songs, and here are some of the ones that always mean Christmas to me. I hope the season finds you and your families well. Enjoy.

Carol of the Bells

This song also comes in Mormon Tabernacle and Trans-Siberian Orchestra versions. There’s also this badass version by August Burns Red. I still like the traditional take best, after all, isn’t Christmas all about tradition?

Oh Holy Night – Josh Groban

O Tannenbaum – Vince Guaraldi Trio Not a traditional arrangement, but I could listen to the Peanuts Christmas music all month long. Christmas Time is Here makes me want to curl up by the fire, with a book, and maybe a friendly pet. O Tannenbaum makes me excited to see family and friends open their gifts, and the light shine in their faces.
