Cash for Clunkers fallout: Price of used cars jumps 30 percent. So we have a government program whose stated aim was to shore up huge, failed corporations by giving public money to mostly upper-income people that in the end will penalize low and middle-income people. But remember folks, it’s the libertarians—who opposed C4C—who are greedy corporatists who hate the poor.

Your intentions, good or ill, don’t matter. Results matter. Which is why the graph below shows the massive success this program had in stimul… oh, it doesn’t show that at all? So we hurt poor folks, helped out giant multinationals and unions, and didn’t improve the overall economy? MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

    Forget resales, the used car markets and so on: any policy that pays a fellow to destroy a nearly-new car is an aesthetic crime.
