Friday Morning Music: Stop! Motion!

Every week we kick your Friday off with a series of videos, loosely gathered around a theme. This week, follow-up to last week’s animated videos, with Stop-Motion Videos!

Peter Gabriel – Sledgehammer The video that sparked the idea for this post. A classic song and a classic video. This neatly illustrates the lasting, yet anachronistic feel of stop motion. It’s weirdly unique, both fresh and charmingly quaint at the same time.

Out Of A Forest – (Slow Show by The National) Not technically a music video, but this remarkable short film, by Tobias Gundorff Boesen, is set to one of The National’s best songs off Boxer. I strongly recommend watching the video in high def.

Her Morning Elegance – Oren Lavie Good voice, and I’m always a sucker for well done strings in a pop song. Oren’s vocals remind me of Alexi Murdoch.

End Love – Ok Go Ok Go makes such great videos that it’s almost cheating to include them on a list like this. Nevertheless, here they are again, showing the versatility of time-shifting using stop-motion as a technique. Pretty ‘effin sweet, especially when they do the drawn out stomp.
