Friday Morning – Singer/Songwriter

Every Friday we’ll kick off your day with some video suggestions, loosely gathered around a theme. Today: 70’s era singer-songwriters. Enjoy.

The Book of Love – Peter Gabriel. Two of my friends got married last summer (to each other!) and this was their first dance.

This Train Don’t Stop There Anymore – Technically a song from the 2000’s, it was a nice surprise for Elton to pull out a soulful call-back to his 70’s glory days. This song has all the heart and a lot more perspective. It’s a thoughtful and somewhat hopeful commentary on the man he used to be.

Late for the Sky – Jackson Browne.

Cecilia – Simon and Garfunkel. Great song, terrible album cover.

The Swimming Song – Loudon Wainwright III. This summer I’ll swim in the ocean, and I’ll swim in a swimming pool!
